Cut to Fit: The Coolest Covert Wearable Knives

The blades in this collection of covert wearable knives aren't so much Bond gadgets or reliable self-defense tools as they are lifesavers in the arenas of cable- and cord-cutting, paper-slicing, and balloon-popping.

But they still look cool, and will be fun to whip out from your neck / belt buckle / zipper to show off.

And, yeah, some of the knives can do some real damage.

Here are my picks for the coolest covert wearable knives.

Note: Knife and blade prices are listed as they were at printing. Prices are subject to change.

BNB Damascus Steel Folding Coin Knife

BNB Damascus Steel Folding Coin Knife

What a purdy necklace ya got there. What is that, a one-eyed owl? Mind if I - whoah! - OK then. It's a knife-eyed owl. I'll be on my way now.

The BNB Coin Knife features a distinctive Damascus-style arced steel blade that swivels open and shut along a brushed steel disc. Open, it pairs with a G10 handle with thumb notch for a secure grip. Closed, the knife can slip inside the coin pocket of your jeans or, more appropriately, slip onto a neck chain so it gets the public display it deserves.

I love you a bushel and a peck and a knife around the neck. No, no, it's not sinister, it's a Kershaw Neck Knife. The AM-6, a utility blade designed by Al Mar Knives. A sweet gift for a man, not the morbid nursery rhyme of a psychopath!

The AM-6 knife's full-tang construction consists of 8Cr13MoV steel stonewashed to finish, and fitted inside a glass-filled nylon handle. Kershaw has also molded a sheath with lanyard for storage and knife-around-the-necking. Blade length is 1.5", and overall length 3.25". Weight is 1.8 ounces.

Circles symbolize unity, wholeness, totality. And also hidden, razor-sharp blades. At least when they're Vicious Circles, and come forth from the loins of Mantis Knives.

Designed by Grant and Gavin Hawk, the Vicious Circle is a hawkbill folding knife set into a stylish stainless steel disc and slipped onto a neck sling. The 1-1/2" blade appears when its wearer releases a specially crafted trigger locking mechanism along the side. The pictured Vicious Circle has a plain stonewashed gray finish, but Mantis also carries several other finishes in the knife, including polished silver and gold, plus styles with with carbon fiber and iridescent onlays. Gerber GDC Zip Blade Zipper Knife

Gerber GDC Zip Blade Zipper Knife

This 0.68" fine edge utility blade has enough pluck to strip wire, cut cardboard, and slice through clamshell packaging. I bet it could even slash open the zipper it's hanging from when it gets stuck, like, every third time I try to take my coat off. Part of Gerber's Daily Carry collection, the Zip Blade also features a quick-release clip for removing the tool quickly and with one hand when damsels in distress need help opening their packages from Victoria's Secret.

JHO Knives "The Nug" Micro Knife

JHO Knives "The Nug" Micro Knife

The Nug is JHO's answer to micro knives that have got no skills beyond being micro. And looking like a hipster ring on your finger.

They built The Nug with a no-slip finger hole for leveraging its G5 Titanium handle and applying its S35VN steel blade to tasks ranging from cutting through boxes and ropes to self defense. Nugs come in a few different finishes and measure 56mm x 31mm x 12mm. Blades are 18mm long x 3mm thick.

Vvego Turbine Engine Boot Blade

Vvego Turbine Engine Boot Blade

TSA isn't going to like this EDC blade attached to your boot, but that incredibly hot chick in purple yoga pants who just noticed a wad of gum congealed to her shoe as she removed it for the X-ray belt probably will. After you scrape it off for her she might even leave the security line and, like, give you a blowjob in an airport utility closet before you figure out how to check your Vvego T-1 and she catches her flight back to Salt Lake City.

HemiSERE Titanium Lapel Knife

HemiSERE Titanium Lapel Knife

The covert HemiSERE Titanium Lapel Knife isn't just some piece of urban-spy EDC Gearward designed for us to geek out on (though it's a little that too). It's a contemporary take on a real issue, the OSS Lapel Knife, clandestine operatives received to use during WWII.

Gearward modernized the Lapel Knife to be more practical and effective for today's carrier. At just 3.375" long x 0.75" tall x 0.05" wide, there's not a lot of room to get a good grip on the blade, so ergonomics were key to ensuring "you don't cut the shit out of yourself using the thing."

Bowen Belt Buckle Knife

Bowen Belt Buckle Knife

Barring any unfortunate nether region mishaps, Bowen's knife buckles and their custom belts (each sold separately) are pretty slick. Blades are made of 420 stainless steel and heat treated to RW 54 - 56. A contoured base supports sturdy 2-fingered grips and enables wearers to draw a knife from its built-in hidden sheath in seconds. Buckles come in single- and double-edge narrow blades (2-1/2" long) and single- and double-edge wide blades (2-7/8" long).

Gerber Ghoststrike Fixed Blade Knife

Gerber Ghoststrike Fixed Blade Knife

An obvious choice from a trusted purveyor at a reasonable price. Maybe Gerber's Ghoststrike isn't the coolest on the list, and its wearable nature is entirely optional, but the knife does come with a modular sheath system, so if concealed carry is what you're going for, you'll have an easy time securing it to your belt, and the pleasure of wearing your shirt untucked to keep it hidden.
