FireSafe Outlets were developed by a New York City firefighter who's battled enough electrical fires to make your hair stand on end. Replacing the covers of your existing home or office outlets, FireSafe Outlets detect heat from wonky wires, connections, and damage, and sound an alarm if the temperature rises above the normal range. Along with smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguishers, and escape ladders, they're one more backstop for keeping your family safe.
FireSafe Outlets are built with 4 heat-detecting contact plates that slide on top of the terminal screws of your receptacle to monitor heat output. A 9V battery (included) powers the alarm, which makes a sound similar to a smoke detector when activated. The alarm also beeps every 45 seconds, and flashes a red LED light when the battery is low.
FireSafe Outlet installation is DIY, and should be within the capability range of any adult. Plates come in packs of 4, in your choice of Duplex or Decora style, and White, Light Almond, or Ivory colors.
