Function Multipurpose Flashlight
By Cryos Illumination's definition, Function in flashlight form means a light output of up to 1600 lumens with endless, user-controlled variability in between. It means dual 1/4-20 tripod threads and a uniquely practical design. Function means not having to dig up or tote around a different damn light for every damn light-requiring task you encounter.
Biking, hiking, camping, videography, walking down dark empty hallways when foreboding background music is playing--Function illuminates all of them from the position and to the degree best suited for each. As determined by you. Two 1/4-20 tripod threads on the top and back of the light enable affixing and rigging with commonly available camera mounts. When ready to use, press down on Function's switch to turn the light on and off, and then rotate its control knob to transition via 3 LED emitters from 1 lumen up to 1600 (buyers have a choice of Cree XPG2 for maximum output, of Nichia 219 Hi CRI for neutral white beams.)
Function will be CNC-machined from a solid block of 6061 aluminum to a size of 3.31" x 1" x 1.85", and weight of 5.5 ounces. It will have 4 modes:
- Mode 0. Off.
- Mode 1. On. Adjusting knob will change flashlight's output brightness.
- Mode 2. Rate control strobe mode. Strobe is activated and knob controls strobe rate. Default brightness saved when adjusted in Mode 3.
- Mode 3. Brightness control strobe mode. Strobe rate is set in Mode 2.
The Function multipurpose flashlight seeks Indiegogo funding through August 25, 2013. A pledge for the standard version of the Renaissance light will run you around $170. Up that to about $440, and in addition to the Function and choice of emitters, you'll get 3 tritium vials installed in the optic, a scratch resistant sapphire lens, a set of spare optics, and a 10% increase in output.
