Donkervoort D8 GTO - Bare Naked Carbon Edition
Here's a sweet ride for you...or Batman. AutoBlog pretty accurately sums up Dutch car maker Donkervoort's Bare Naked Carbon Edition of their fit-for-a-Dark-Knight D8 GTO in a single word: bonkers. Legal on the road and a demon the track, this low-riding beast gets its inspiration from the Lotus Seven, its 5-cylinder, 2.5-liter TFSI engine from Audi, and its wicked lines and curves from a body made predominantly of carbon fiber.
As a machine, the Donkervoort D8 GTO has a power-to-weight ratio of less than two, making it one of the fastest street-legal cars in the world. Zero to 60 in 3.3 seconds, 0 to 125 in 10.4 seconds. Its power rating is 340 to 380 hp, with 450 Nm of torque starting at around 1600 rpm. With the Bare Naked Carbon Edition, Donkervoort has also kept visible the material that keeps its car light (just over 1,500 pounds). The carbon fiber bodywork has been installed by hand, with care to ensure precise alignment of the weave since it's all visible under a lacquered or matte finish. Huh. And all this time I thought the raddest things the Dutch made were wooden shoes and space cakes.
