Hot Dog Sofa & Hamburger Chair

Hot Dog Sofa

A hot dog sofa? A hamburger chair? Sweet! Now when I get ketchup and mustard all over my furniture it won't ruin it, it will make it better!

Somewhat surprisingly, these mainstays of American BBQs and tailgating essentials were designed by Seletti, a modern home decor firm out of Manuta, Italy. Not some Greasy Wiener & Fat Patty concession stands consortium from New York. Seletti says their goal, not only in the hot dog sofas and hamburger chairs, but all of their pieces, is to blend art with pop culture, and do something unexpected and fun with the fixtures of our daily life.

Hot diggity dog, it's a bun for my buns and a hunk of meat for my...I'll let you finish the thought. The Hot Dog Sofa is a topping-free piece of furniture, as the pillows are sold separately. So for over 7 Gs, all you're getting is white bread, a tube of processed pork product, and a squiggle of mustard. It better be French's.

Hamburger Chair

Hamburger Chair

Like the Hot Dog Sofa the Burger Lounge Chair comes plain and dry. Good news for the kiddies who freak out if a tomato touches, or even gets within a foot of, anything you hope to see them eat. The burger patty looks like it's made out of polyester. Or maybe acrylic. So, like, the same stuff White Castle uses.

Finally, we get to the hot dog and burger toppings. And even if you don't like tomatoes on your hot dogs and burgers, haven't you always just wanted to buy a $1,500 pillow shaped like a vegetable fruit vegetable fruit....

Mmmm, the makin's of relish. How much to have Seletti mince up this giant gherkin for me? Then maybe string the bits together into rippling blanket of sweet 'n' sour condiment. I bet the texture would be as gratifying to my hands as the edible equivalent's taste is to my mouth.

But who puts cucumbers on their hot dogs or hamburgers?! This food furnishings line may be an Italian design, but I don't accept unpickled pickles as a legitimate topping to American culinary icons anywhere in the world.
