Everyone loves superheros. Super villains. Super powers. Super tales of good vs. evil. And flashy graphics. Don't forget the loud spectral colors and ripped/buxom exaggerations of flashy graphics. That's the allure of comic books. And, by proxy, the allure of Tim Leong's Super Graphic: A Visual Guide to the Comic Book Universe.

Super Graphic brims with pie charts, bar graphs, timelines, scatter plots, and narratives of comic book meat. Informational filet mignons dissecting and comparing and expounding upon the characters, story lines, weapons, and toys of history's most treasured--and addictive--comics and graphic novels. Check out the venn diagram of superhero comic tropes, or the book's inspection of the hip hop industry, with a clever wheel of rappers whose names stem from comic book characters, and a breakdown of Eminem's nod to the comics in many of his songs' lyrics. And by "check out", I mean look at the titles and overall aesthetic of a few pages. Good luck deciphering the actual text. I guess Leong figures people are more likely to buy a copy of Super Graphic if they can't read the entire thing for free online first.
