Lair poses a most pensive question: "Why do bad guys live in good houses?" Then, over the next 290 pages of its exploration of the Radical Homes and Hideouts of Movie Villains, the book makes no attempt to answer it. I guess its editors figured if you and I are anything like them, we'd rather just look at the architectural drawings and plans for some sick pads than read a lengthy philosophical discussion on characters that don't really exist.

I found myself in a similar position last year when I considered posting An Analysis on the Agency of Western vs. Eastern villains, but instead went for Goodies for Baddies: Gifts for Your Favorite Villains.

Lair calls the villain's abode "a stunning, sophisticated, envy-inducing expression of the warped drives and desires of its occupant." The book examines, and celebrates, the lairs of iconic villains from 15 Hollywood films, including: Star Wars; The Incredibles; Blade Runner 2049; Body Double; and North by Northwest.
