How many rental e-scooter rides would you have to pay for to make the investment in a Segway Ninebot KickScooter MAX worth it? For me: zero. Zero rental scooter rides required. If I ever felt the need to commute, or even just dick around on an electric scooter, it would only be an electric scooter I owned.
Not even counting that I have witnessed multiple drunk and/or homeless people emptying food, drinks, and their bladders on rental scooters just to be jerkholes, the way I see them tossed on dirty sidewalks and grass, left out to get rained, mud-splashed, and bird-shat on, and then ridden by hundreds of strangers...you think public restrooms are dirty? Airplanes? Yick.
Even when it's not cheap, sometimes it pays to pay.
The KickScooter is the Segway's cushiest and most powerful Ninebot e-scooter. It has 10" self-healing pneumatic tires and front and rear wheel shock absorbers for increased riding comfort, even on uneven or rough surfaces. An anti-lock braking system pairs with front, rear, and brake LED lights for additional safety as well.
To support its sedan-style design, the KickScooter MAX weighs a burly 42 pounds, but it still folds up for some level of portability on public transit, and storage in your car or office.
KickScooter MAX range is an impressive 40.4 miles thanks to a 551Wh battery that fast charges in 6 hours. Top speed is similar to the KickScooter ES4 at 18.6MPH, but the MAX can handle a 20% climbing slope with 350W of nominal power, compared to the ES4's 15% / 300W.
