The reduction of "Little" to "Lil" normally makes me cringe. It might be second only to shortening words with "y" or "ie", or adding the letters to the end of them. "Sammy" instead of "sandwich" is the worst offense. However, I accept both when the "Lil" is followed by "Sweetie" and refers to a formidable cast iron stove. Though I guess Vogelzang's Lil Sweetie got the name because she's less formidable than their standard Boxwood model, even at 20" tall from leg to flat top, and around 60 pounds, the stove looks like a force to be reckoned with. Though some question its robustness, and complain of shipping mishaps, Amazon reviews generally confirm as much. Particularly at the Lil Sweetie's price.
One reviewer notes that, when paired with circulating fans, the stove provides enough output to heat a 1,400 square foot house on its own during moderately cold Oklahoma weather. Others caution that it eats wood, particularly fresh wood, fast and suggest adding a wood stove gasket to the Lil Sweetie's damper pan to slow the process. For their part, Vogelzang offers no comment on burn time, but notes the Jr. stove will accept logs up to 20" in length, and heat spaces of up to 600 square feet. They recommend its installation in workshops, cabins, barns, or cottages.
The Lil Sweetie stove's handle is a cool-touch spring with a cam-lock latch. On top is a 6" integrated surface for cooking. The built-in damper/collar has a 6" flue. Overall BTU rating is 96,000.
