"Contego" is Spanish for "protect" or "shield." Which is ironic since my first order of business, were I to own Bechmade's Contego Folding Knife, would be to use it to tear through others' supposed shields. Boxes from Amazon. Product packaging. Taped corners of wrapping paper covering what Santa Mama got me for Christmas. I think the knife's 3.98" blade would also serve me well as a means of transporting tater tots from my plate to my mouth. After all, Benchmade says it's made "with toughness and durability for any occasion."

Others who actually own a Contego Folding Knife give it glowing online reviews. Even the guy who believes only a fixed blade knife can serve as a true weapon of self defense gives it 5 stars for EDC an urban setting where carrying a folding knife makes more sense. Sentiments of its high quality construction and easy handling echo throughout most of the other reviewers' 2 cents.
