iSphere Pandemic-Ready Head Dome
The iSphere head dome, in addition to providing full upper orifice coverage in the face of the COVID-19 global pandemic, finally gives us an opening to take astronaut cosplay and little green men LARPing to the streets. It's still safety first, but with iSphere, good times are coming in at a close second.
Originally developed by Plastique Fantastique as a large-scale art installation, the iSphere is an exploration of "the mutation of our social life and the effects of the deprivation of physical touch" in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. Its transparent orb form takes inspiration from 1950s sci-fi comics and objects emerging from the utopian movement of the 1960s.
This individual version of the iSphere, an interpretation of the face shield falling somewhere between the Blocc and the BioVYZR, exists as an open-source project that anyone is free to DIY, further develop, and improve upon. Plastique Fantastique suggests adding a sunshade, a mirrored layer, an integrated microphone, a speaker, a ventilator, and / or a snorkel. I suggest a button to teleport yourself the H-E-Double-Apocalypse out of 2020.
