August 2014 Update: Sadly, it appears that the Ritot watch is yet another crowdfunding scam. Thanks to commenter Bea Foroni for posting this article summarizing why Ritot technology isn't currently possible, and the bizarre BS surrounding the company claiming it is.

You may say Ritot is just another smartwatch, but I say, But! But! Look! Look at how it projects the time and a warning that my mama's calling on my hand! Available in Bracelet and Sport styles, Ritot aims to merge smartwatch technology with wristband minimalism with Man's love of bright lights and holograms.

At the heart of Ritot lies its pico projector, which outputs illuminated graphics displaying the digital time, plus a variety of other user-specified notifications. The watch has just 1 touch-sensitive button that serves to activate and manipulate its projection (i.e., from a 10-second display to permanent time on your hands.) Note: Ritot's designers guarantee the watch "is absolutely safe for your skin and health."

Additional Ritot watch features include:

  • 20 different projection color choices, changeable in a single click.
  • Projection activation via touching the watch's button or just shaking your wrist.
  • Energy saving technology, including a 1-month rechargeable battery life in stand-by mode, and 150 hours in projection mode.
  • Waterproof.
  • Adjustable to fit any hand.
  • Unisex design in both Sport and Bracelet styles.
  • 24 or 12 hour time display mode.
  • Projection viewing changeable for left and right hand.

Ritots undergo setup and charging on an included watch base, which also tells time and can serve as an alarm clock. Vibrating notifications that come through and project from the watch (dismiss them with a wrist shake) include: incoming caller ID; text messages; reminders/meetings; emails; calendar alerts; Facebook messages; Tweets; and weather alerts.

Ritot seeks crowdfunding on Indiegogo through August 21, 2014.
